    CarBahn has developed a Rear Toe Link Kit for the M5 and M8 designed to add precision and predictability at the limit.

    The stock rear toe link is built with rubber bushings and a curved forged alloy rod which can easily flex. During hard acceleration, this flex allows the rear wheels to have excessive toe changes. All this flex in the stock toe link causes the car to be unstable when pushing the limits of acceleration.  CarBahn eliminates this flex by replacing the rubber bushings with Teflon coated machined steel rod ends, and the OEM curved bar with a straight billet aluminum rod. Most, if not all, of our competitors’ products wrap the rod end in a loose rubber boot, which not only allows water and debris to enter but also retains them which results in excessive noise and a short service life until the rod ends must be replaced. The CarBahn rod ends are sealed perfectly against water and environmental contamination, thus providing a long, quiet, maintenance-free service life.

    Heat Exchanger

    CarBahn heat exchanger very efficient additional heat exchangers are tied into the intercooler heat exchanger circuit to extract more heat from the intercoolers. They are designed to compensate for additional heat generated by increased boost. The reduced in temperature is a must to extract maximum power and ensure reliability of the engine with High boost applications. In addition, they are very light weight compared to other units on the market. This is important to maintain proper weight distribution since they are mounted on the nose of the car.

    We have seen many damaged engines as result of making too much power with a stock engine. While modern engines are very reliable, it is easy to add large turbochargers and water methanol injection and break the engine.     CarBahn Performance Controller (CPC):

    The CPC is a plug and play ECU that increases boost pressure in turbocharged cars to dramatically increase HP and Torque. The unit has selectable maps through a Bluetooth app on your smart phone.

    You can download these apps for your smartphone through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

     

    These maps are designed to accommodate different octane fuels for additional increased performance. You can choose between 91, 93 and 100 Octane.

    As with all CarBahn products an optional powertrain warranty can be purchased.

    If you want to trade your CarBahn Performance Controller in for software in the future, there is a $500 upgrade fee and if you purchased the warranty, it is transferable to the software at no additional charge!

     

    Doing it yourself:

    A note on self-tuning tools. There are now programs available that you can buy to tune your car yourself. Many of these tools come with canned programs. Be careful as tuning a high output engine requires tremendous knowledge and experience to extract maximum power without damage.

    Emissions legality:

    A note on down pipes (removing the catalyst). We have run back-to-back dyno runs with the cat on and off and the power gain is much smaller than most people claim usually around 11hp. We all need to breathe the air. It is difficult to get your car its required emissions test without catalyst and it is illegal.

    High boost with stock engine:

    We have seen many damaged engines as result of making too much power with a stock engine. While modern engines are very reliable, it is easy to add large turbochargers and water methanol injection and break the engine. CarBahn warranties are transferable when ownership of the vehicle into which the CarBahn products were originally installed is sold. The warranty will repair or replace, without charge for parts or labor, the defective CarBahn component(s) as well as any original vehicle manufacturer component(s) directly affected by a CarBahn component, using new or authorized remanufactured parts. The decision to repair or replace said parts is at the sole discretion of CarBahn. Parts replaced under this limited warranty become the property of CarBahn. A reasonable period must be allowed for warranty repairs to be completed in all cases.

    If your vehicle is outside of the vehicle manufacturer’s new car limited warranty, CarBahn will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace any defective CarBahn component for two (2) years from the original purchase date of the CarBahn product.     Philosophy:

    CarBahn software is designed to deliver the highest safe output possible. Smooth Power means software tuned correctly, not over-tuned. We always try to make a natural torque curve, not excessive torque at low RPM that falls off rapidly at high RPM. Excessive torque will break the tires loose, break the engine and drivetrain. Managed torque with a smooth delivery makes the car easier to drive thereby faster and more reliable. Most if not all our competitor tunes attempt to run too much boost, resulting in active knock corrections which causes surging during acceleration. CarBahn software also incorporates torque reduction in 1st and 2nd gears for manageable power delivery.

    Durability:

    Most if not all tunes on the market except CarBahn reduce safety parameters in the software in an attempt to extract more power. These safety parameters such as knock control sensitivity, super knocking control sensitivity, and catalyst thermal protection are tuned into your OEM software to prevent engine and catalyst failure. When we reduced all the supposed power robbing software protections we lost less than 8 HP and 8 LB/FT Torque. We have seen many damaged engines as result of reducing these safety parameters! It hardly seems worth it for 8HP.

    Doing it yourself:

    A note on self-tuning tools. There are now programs available that you can buy to tune your car yourself. Many of these tools come with canned programs. Be careful as tuning a high output engine requires tremendous knowledge and experience to extract maximum power without damage.

    Emissions legality:

    A note on down pipes (removing the catalyst). We have run back to back dyno runs with the cat on and off and the power gain is much smaller than most people claim. We all need to breathe the air. Its difficult to get your car its required emissions test without catalyst and it’s illegal.

    High boost with stock engine:

    We have seen many damaged engines as result of making too much power with a stock engine. While modern engines are very reliable, it is easy to add large turbochargers and water methanol injection and break the engine. On the F8X, maximum safe power on a stock engine is 600 LB/FT flywheel torque. CarBahn makes high performance engines designed to handle more power. More information is available on this web site.

    From stock, the S63 engine is not designed for a large increase in boost. CarBahn has designed a high-performance engine to handle very high outputs by utilizing higher quality racing Carrillo connecting rods and forged CP pistons.

    The stock engine compression ratio is relatively high due to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards which push for consistently higher fuel economy in cars and trucks. However, this increased compression limits engine performance with higher boost settings by decreasing the size of the fuel-air charge in the combustion chamber, forcing the ignition timing to retard far below MBT (Mean Best Timing, the theoretical optimal ignition timing). Therefore, the Carbahn Autoworks S63 engine has 0.5 less compression to optimize the engine for the increased boost. In an emissions-legal street car, the lowered compression has the added benefit of reducing catalyst inlet temperatures and improved drive-ability on pump gas.

  • CBF90-3105 – CarBahn Adjustable Rear Toe Link Kit – M5 & M8

    CarBahn has developed a Rear Toe Link Kit for the M5 and M8 designed to add precision and predictability at the limit.

    The stock rear toe link is built with rubber bushings and a curved forged alloy rod which can easily flex. During hard acceleration, this flex allows the rear wheels to have excessive toe changes. All this flex in the stock toe link causes the car to be unstable when pushing the limits of acceleration.  CarBahn eliminates this flex by replacing the rubber bushings with Teflon coated machined steel rod ends, and the OEM curved bar with a straight billet aluminum rod. Most, if not all, of our competitors’ products wrap the rod end in a loose rubber boot, which not only allows water and debris to enter but also retains them which results in excessive noise and a short service life until the rod ends must be replaced. The CarBahn rod ends are sealed perfectly against water and environmental contamination, thus providing a long, quiet, maintenance-free service life.

    The N55 engine is not designed to take a large increase in boost beyond the OEM spec. Due to the design of the crankshaft, it is known to have the timing chain sprocket spin on the end of the crankshaft, causing the cams to go out of time. In extreme cases, the valves can hit the pistons, causing catastrophic damage. Furthermore, the N55 only has half of a normal crankshaft thrust bearing. To ensure durability we pin the timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft, machine the block to accommodate a full circle thrust main. All engines are backed with a two-year warranty.

    This engine includes CarBahn valve springs, 2mm over-sized 94mm CarBahn-CP forged pistons, CarBahn billet 83mm stroke crankshaft, and high-strength forged Carrillo connecting rods with CarBahn-Clevite racing rod bearings. In addition, the 5.8L engine comes with high performance camshafts to further increase power.

    Head gaskets come in 3 thicknesses (.027”- .036”- .040”) depending on the deck height.

    Connecting rod bearing and valve springs are common failure items on S65 and S85 engines. In response, CarBahn Autoworks has developed improved bearings and valve springs. This rebuild includes a valve job with new hydraulic lifters, plus timing chains, timing chain guides, timing chain tensioners and all associated seals and gaskets.

    For our Stage 2 engines, high performance direct injection camshafts are reground to increase the stroke on the direct injection pump to increase fuel flow for higher boost levels. We also port and polish the cylinder heads.

    The stock engine compression ratio is relatively high due to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards which push for consistently higher fuel economy in cars and trucks. However, this increased compression limits engine performance with higher boost settings by decreasing the size of the fuel-air charge in the combustion chamber, forcing the ignition timing to retard far below MBT (Mean Best Timing, the theoretical optimal ignition timing). Therefore, the Carbahn Autoworks S63 engine has 0.5 less compression to optimize the engine for the increased boost. In an emissions-legal street car, the lowered compression has the added benefit of reducing catalyst inlet temperatures and improved drive-ability on pump gas.

    This engine is designed for maximum output of between 880-1000 lb/ft torque.

    This engine is the lower end only.     The CarBahn Autoworks S65 4.6L stroked and bored engine kit includes over-sized forged pistons, a forged crankshaft with increased stroke, and high-strength forged Carrillo connecting rods. The bore is increased to 94mm and the stroke is increased to 83mm. In addition, common S65 failure points are addressed with Clevite-Dinan racing rod bearings and CarBahn Autoworks valve springs.

    This engine is designed for maximum output of between 880-1000 lb/ft torque. The direct injection pump drive is modified to inject more fuel. We also port the cylinder head to ensure maximum flow at high RPM with larger turbochargers.

    This Engine Incudes: Forged Carrillo Rods, Forged CP Pistons, CarBahn Pinned crankshaft, Full circle main bearing, high performance valve springs, labor and machine work to install them into the block.

    Stage 1, S55 High performance engine: F80 M3, F82 F83 M4, F87 M2C

    The S55 engine is not designed to take a large increase in boost beyond the OEM spec. Due to the design of the crankshaft, it is known to have the timing chain sprocket spin on the end of the crankshaft, causing the cams to go out of time. In extreme cases, the valves can hit the pistons, causing catastrophic damage. Furthermore, the S55 only has half of a normal crankshaft thrust bearing.

    To ensure durability we pin the timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft, machine the block to accommodate a full circle thrust main. In addition, we utilize higher quality racing Carrillo connecting rods and forged CP pistons and CarBahn high-performance valve springs.

The GT1 5-Lug combines the latest in advanced wheel technology, including one piece forged monoblock construction, motorsport engineered design, I-beamed spokes, and I-beamed spoke spans to deliver head-turning good looks with track-ready capability.

    The GT1 5-Lug is a fully-forged one-piece monoblock wheel that is manufactured using technology similar to the very successful GA1R wheel. The GT1 5-Lug’s concave 10-spoke design includes extra long spokes that extend beyond the hidden lug holes while allowing plenty of room for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment. The one-piece monoblock forging and computer-simulated FEA design process yield a wheel that is very lightweight, extremely stiff, and has excellent fatigue strength.

    The Forgeline GT1 5-Lug one piece monoblock wheel is machined from a single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum. It is currently available in 18, 19, 20, and 21-inch diameters. (Please Note: Depending on size, the GT1 5-Lug may be available in deep, medium, or shallow concave profiles.)
