CarBahn software is designed to deliver the highest safe output possible. Smooth Power means software tuned correctly, not over-tuned. We always try to make a natural torque curve, not excessive torque at low RPM that falls off rapidly at high RPM. Excessive torque will break the tires loose, break the engine and drivetrain. Managed torque with a smooth delivery makes the car easier to drive thereby faster and more reliable. Most if not all our competitor tunes attempt to run too much boost, resulting in active knock corrections which causes surging during acceleration. CarBahn software also incorporates torque reduction in 1st and 2nd gears for manageable power delivery.


Most if not all tunes on the market except CarBahn reduce safety parameters in the software in an attempt to extract more power. These safety parameters such as knock control sensitivity, super knocking control sensitivity, and catalyst thermal protection are tuned into your OEM software to prevent engine and catalyst failure. When we reduced all the supposed power robbing software protections we lost less than 8 HP and 8 LB/FT Torque. We have seen many damaged engines as result of reducing these safety parameters! It hardly seems worth it for 8HP.

Doing it yourself:

A note on self-tuning tools. There are now programs available that you can buy to tune your car yourself. Many of these tools come with canned programs. Be careful as tuning a high output engine requires tremendous knowledge and experience to extract maximum power without damage.

Emissions legality:

A note on down pipes (removing the catalyst). We have run back to back dyno runs with the cat on and off and the power gain is much smaller than most people claim. We all need to breathe the air. Its difficult to get your car its required emissions test without catalyst and it’s illegal.

High boost with stock engine:

We have seen many damaged engines as result of making too much power with a stock engine. While modern engines are very reliable, it is easy to add large turbochargers and water methanol injection and break the engine. On the F8X, maximum safe power on a stock engine is 600 LB/FT flywheel torque. CarBahn makes high performance engines designed to handle more power. More information is available on this web site.

Return shipping charges, towing charges, rental car fees damage to a component or assembly due to the installation of replacement parts with specifications that differ in any material respect from the original vehicle manufacturer or CarBahn Autoworks parts, damage resulting from the unauthorized modification of a CarBahn Autoworks part or assembly, damage resulting from the use of other manufacturer products in conjunction with CarBahn Autoworks’ products or systems, damage to the clutch due to power shifting or abuse, brake rotor warp, friction materials, maintenance services and parts when replaced during maintenance such as spark plugs, lubricants, fluids, engine tune-up parts, replacement of filters, coolant and refrigerant, mechanical adjustments or repairs which result from normal wear and tear, drive-belts, light bulbs, damage due to the failure to perform maintenance services at the specified intervals or in accordance with the instructions in the owner manual from the original vehicle manufacturer or CarBahn Autoworks’ product instructions, damage attributable to negligence or abuse, improper installation, improper treatment or treatment contrary to the instructions in the owner manual from the original vehicle manufacturer or CarBahn Autoworks’ product instructions, engine damage resulting from alteration of CarBahn Autoworks’ original boost pressure, damage resulting from the use of improper or contaminated fuel, damage occurring through corrosion resulting from weak or improper coolant, damage to a CarBahn Autoworks component as a result of a collision or improper collision damage repairs, any vehicle operated in any competitive event or subjected to aggressive track conditions, custom-designed competition parts, damages resulting from loss of time, inconvenience or loss of the use of the vehicle, damage resulting from environmental influences, flood, accident, fire damage, or road salt corrosion, re-manufactured or refurbished products or components (these products are clearly identified as re-furbished and are warranted for the period specified for that particular product).

    Could not be more pleased with stage 1 tune for my 2020 M2CS. I waited for the availability of the CarBahn tune as I wanted warranty coverage and would only trust a Steve Dinan product for my BMWs.

    In addition to noticeable increase in power the throttle response was improved as was the improvement in manual shifts especially 1-2. The power delivery is very linear and the drivability at low speeds completely smooth.


    I installed stage 1 software on my 2015 M4 and what a night and day difference! The acceleration is great and it is very responsive. I have driven a lot of stock M cars being as I worked at a BMW dealership and I can appreciate the power gain it is very noticeable. It really opens up the car! Installation was also a breeze no hiccups and the guys are always available if you need any assistance. Looking forward for stage 2 after a couple more performance upgrades. Very happy and will highly recommend to others !

    I purchased this stage I for my 2019 BMW M2Comp and could not be happier. The acceleration between 4K – 6K range is fantastic. My wife followed me on the freeway right after I pickup the car. Travelong around K rpm in 3rd doing about 70 mpg and with her on the cell phone I floored it and in about 2-3 seconds was doing 120 mph. My wife was screaming on the phone that it looked like I was shot our of a cannon. Unbelievable.

    Something like a tune on an expensive can really make you nervous but I will say having had the stage 1 tune = burble option on my Comp pkg M3 has been a delight. The car came stock with burble but the tune from carbahn really elevated the volume of it.

    In terms of power delivery it really works well with the organic curve of the car but enhances it on all aspects, the car feels MUCH more responsive and the power delivery just make sense now.

    The add-ons like the appropriate power gauges are also nice, all in all, am very pleased with this tune and would recommend it to others.

    I would encourage anyone on the fence regarding a Tune, begin here, the power is smooth and deliberate. Professionally installed through my authorized Carbahn BMW dealer, which provides other performance upgrades as well. Power delivery is not overbearing, it provides the absolute driving experience sought after for the true enthusiast.

    2020 M2C DCT…..This tune makes the car feel 500lbs lighter. The car feels completely alive, and wait until you run to redline in 4th gear, never-ending pull. The price can’t be beat and aftermarket exhaust is absolutely unnecessary. Very happy here.

    I have full confidence in strongly recommending this stage 1 flash if you are in the market for a tune. However, if you have an m2 competition specifically, you NEED this tune. My initial goal was to undo the de-tune BMW did to the m2c where the curve flattens out from 5k to 7k compared to its bigger brothers m3/m4. Other goals were to retain some level of warranty, not have to hide my tune from the dealership during regular maintenance appointments, tone down the OEM burbles, and keep the car around or below 500 whp (because of crank hub concerns). After my research and one conversation with Chris @ Carbahn, this was the ONLY tune that I was comfortable with and ticked all of the boxes listed above. As others have said, the power is strong, consistent, and feels stock. Further, it basically bumps all of the driving modes up a level. I almost never used the comfort mode before as it just suppressed the throttle map too much. Now, comfort feels like stock sport, sport feels like sport plus, and sport plus feels like power you’ve never felt before. This is an added bonus as I use comfort all the time now around tune which gives me comfortable power with zero burbles at low speeds. Perfect!

    This is 100% how the car should have come off the assembly line. It also gives me peace of mind that the tune was flashed by my local BMW dealership. When I go in for an oil change, I put a note to not touch DME and leave the Carbahn tablet box on the passenger seat as an extra reminder.

    Below is a link to my impressive dyno runs. Needless to say, that tuning shop (that I use mostly for my Audi stuff) was very impressed with the stage 1 flash results on stock turbos.

    If you have the m2c, get the “no burbles added” or “light burbles” version. The m2c is super burble happy stock so the light burble stage 1 tune is perfect as it caps the burble duration to 2 seconds.

    Don’t think twice. Get it now! You won’t regret it.

    Love the power delivery. Smooth as stock, with more power and torque everywhere! Long history with both flash and piggyback with Dinan, and this tune is every bit as good if not better. Love the matching warranty as well. Tuning through my Carbahn authorized BMW dealer gives that additional piece of mind with matching Carbarn warranty.

    Highly recommended!

    I’ve had this time for some time and I’ve tested it through a variety of driving conditions. This is definitely the smoothest (and most stock feeling) time that I’ve ever used. Power delivery feels like OEM but you can feel the additional power.

    This tune is smooth whether you are just cruising around town, carving some mountain roads or on the track. The burbles are not overly excessive (my subjective opinion).

    Great tune and I’m happy I made this investment.
