    CSF has already released its most popular Front Mount Heat Exchanger for the B58 Charge-Air Cooling System, highly regarded as the go-to option in the industry to reduce intake air temperatures (IATs) and proven on the world’s fastest Supras.

    As more vehicles start to become raced in competitive motorsports, the glaring overheating issues that plague this platform have become even more apparent. CSF has answered the call with the release of new High-Performance Auxiliary (Side) Radiators as well as a world exclusive Dual-Core ZF 8HP Transmission Oil Cooler.

    Don’t be fooled by other high-performance aftermarket options that utilize the OEM plastic rock guard. The OEM rock guard’s vertical channel design is specifically designed to only work with the tube spacing found on the OEM core. When the OEM rock guard is installed on an aftermarket radiator, it actually blocks a significant amount of surface area, detrimental to the intended performance. During CSF’s own R&D phase, CSF analyzed both the OEM and other aftermarket offerings and decided to take the extra step, redesigning the included rock guard to allow maximum flow to the radiator core, but still offering ample protection from small rocks and road debris – all proven on CSF’s in-house wind tunnel.

    CSF’s new Auxiliary Radiator fits both the left and right side of the vehicle as a drop-in fit, requiring no modifications to install.     The BMW F-series B58 engine is found in a wide array of BMW vehicles (M140i, M240i, 340i, 440i). The motor is similar to the S55 engine found in the latest generation F8x M3/M4 (and new M2 competition) in that it has an indirect water-to-air charge cooling system with a supplemental front mount heat exchanger to cool the water that circulates through the charge cooler. However, unlike the S55 motor, the BMW B58 charge cooler is built into the plastic intake manifold housing. In the meantime of continued development of its high-performance manifold charge cooler, CSF has first released their new BMW B58 heat exchanger for BMW F-Series vehicles. This new high performance heat exchanger drastically reduces water temperatures in the charge cooling cycle, which in turn reduces and stabilizes the intake air temperatures of the engine. With many unique features, included accessories, and of course, industry-leading performance, it without a doubt the best option on the market for every consumer whether it be for a daily driver or a high-performance race car.

    Another critical feature of the CSF BMW B58 high-performance heat exchanger is its unique triple-pass flow design. The water traveling through the upgraded heat exchanger flows through the radiator three times before exiting the cooler and flowing back into the manifold charge cooler. This ensures that the outlet water temperature of the heat exchanger is the absolute lowest it can be.     Dual intercoolers

    CarBahn CSF larger dual intercoolers is a very efficient heat exchanging that will allow you to run more boost and extract more power. They are a very efficient intercooler replacement and are tied into the stock heat exchanger circuit. They work best when used in conjunction with CarBahn heat exchangers and software. They are designed to compensate for additional heat generated by increased boost. The reduced intake air temperature increases air density and is a must to extract maximum power and ensure reliability of the engine with High boost applications.

    The B58 engine is found in a wide array of vehicles; Z4 20i, 30i & M40i  G20 3-Series 320i, 330i, 330iX, M340i, M340iX G21 3-Series Touring (330i, 330iX, M340iX) The motor is similar to the S55 engine found in the latest generation F8x M3/M4 (and M2 Competition) in that it has an indirect water-to-air charge cooling system with a supplemental front mount heat exchanger to cool the water that circulates through the charge cooler. However, unlike the S55 motor, the BMW B58 charge cooler is built into the plastic intake manifold housing. In the meantime of continued development of its high-performance manifold charge cooler, CSF has first released their new BMW B58 heat exchanger for BMW G-Series vehicles. CSF’s new high performance B58 heat exchanger drastically reduces water temperatures in the charge cooling cycle, which in turn reduces and stabilizes the intake air temperatures of the engine.   • CBF8X-2010 – CSF Auxiliary Radiators for S55

    CSF designed the coolers to be a true “Drop-in Fit” for easy installation. Each cooler mounts in the factory location and uses the OEM quick connections. The High-Performance Auxiliary Radiators work in conjunction with the rest of the cooling system to reduce temperatures. They not only help keep temperatures in optimal ranges but prolong the heat soak threshold. There’s nothing worse than having your track session cut short because you need to do a cooldown lap. This is particularly important if you track the car. 

    Like the other cooling systems on the F8X, the factory auxiliary radiators do a pretty good job in stock form. However, once you start adding a lot of power and pushing the car in aggressive driving conditions, the factory systems start to show its limitations. As more and more owners have pushed the limits of their S55, CSF saw the need and demand. The F8X platform is also almost a decade old with the newest examples being at least 5 years old. Over time the original coolers end up with damaged or clogged fins that greatly reduce their cooling capacity. CarBahn is proud to offer CSF’s upgrade to this unit.     Design, Development, and Testing

    While the OEM Transmission Cooler is adequate for the G8X in stock form, it starts to come up a bit short on modified/tuned vehicles. Specifically ones that see heavy track/competition use. Transmission oil temperatures have a major impact on the shifting performance of your automatic transmission. If the fluid passes optimal temperatures you will start to see some delays in shifting. Sluggish shifting can be quite frustrating, but the real concern is the damage that can be done to the transmission when temperatures get too high. There are often cases where drivers don’t notice the change in shifting performance due to the gradual onset, but the damage is still being done slowly on a very expensive and important component.

    By changing from the OEM single core design to a dual core, CSF was able to increase the overall volume by 194%. This design offers a drastic improvement in heat dissipation and increases the fluid capacity of the coolers by ~94%. Utilizing CSF’s AC Condenser Technology, a 1-Row Super-High Pressure 16mm 9-Channel Microtube design optimizes oil flow and offers maximum surface area contact. These features combine to offer the best possible heat dissipation from the system.

     

    Rock Guard

    CSF knows the kind of punishment the front of a car can take on or off the track. The wrong bit of debris flying through the front grille can quickly punch a hole in a cooler. Because the Transmission cooler sits at the very front of the center cooling stack, it is quite vulnerable to damage. In addition, “open face” race style grilles have become quite popular on the G8X. These grilles can add to the risk of debris passing through.
