The CarBahn ST1 S63 engine is rated for up to 850 lb-ft of torque. It is designed to improve durability for medium-output tunes, making it an excellent alternative to an OEM factory remanufactured engine, especially if your original engine has failed and is no longer under warranty. We utilize high-quality racing components, including Carrillo connecting rods, forged CP pistons, high-performance valve springs, and a high-performance head gasket. This engine maintains the stock compression ratio, ensuring excellent drivability and fuel economy.

The CarBahn S63 engine is both stronger and more affordable than the BMW OEM factory engine, making it the ideal choice for BMW S63 performance enthusiasts. Steve Dinan's engine shop, with 46 years of experience, has built engines that have won numerous championships, including three prototype racing championships and two overall wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona (2011-2013). You won’t find a higher-quality engine from any other BMW tuning company. All engines come with a two-year warranty.

Experience the power and performance of S63 engine tuning with CarBahn.

The S63 engine is not designed to have large increase in boost. CarBahn has designed a high-performance engine to handle very high outputs by utilizing higher quality racing components. This engine includes higher quality racing Forged Carrillo connecting rods, CP forged pistons and CarBahn high-performance valve springs. This Engine includes a complete rebuild with a valve job, timing chains, chain guides, tensioners, water pump thermostat, new bearings, seals and gaskets.

The stock high compression ratio is high for CAFÉ. (Corporate average fuel economy). However, this increased compression limits engine performance with higher boost setting by decreasing the size of the fuel air charge in the combustion chamber and by forcing the ignition timing to retard far below MBT (mean best timing). The CarBahn engine has .5 less compression to optimize the engine for the increased boost. If this an emissions legal street car the lowered compression has the added benefit of reducing catalyst inlet temperatures and improved drivability on pump gas.

CarBahn History

Steve Dinan has been building high performance and racing engines for BMW’s since 1977! Winning 12 racing championships including 3 prototype championships and two - 24 hours of Daytona. The same engine shop that builds the racing engines also builds the street car engines. This group of talented engineers, Engine machinist and engine builders has built hundreds of engines. From rebuilds to developing engines making over 625hp on an S65 and over 740hp on an S85.
