The CarBahn Heat Exchanger Kit increases the cooling capacity of the BMW N63’s water-to-air charge-cooling system, helping maintain lower and more consistent intake-air temperatures under sustained boost.
BMW’s factory heat exchanger can become overwhelmed during repeated acceleration, aggressive street driving, track use, or operation in hot climates. As charge-air temperatures rise, the engine management system may reduce ignition timing to protect the engine—causing power to fade from one pull to the next.
CarBahn’s auxillary heat exchanger features a high-efficiency, multi-row bar-and-plate core with approximately 40% more thermal surface area than the factory unit. Optimized coolant routing distributes coolant evenly across the core, while low-restriction end tanks preserve coolant flow and improve heat rejection. The result is reduced heat soak, more stable ignition timing, and consistent, repeatable performance.
Engineered as a direct-fit upgrade, the system integrates with the factory mounting points and cooling circuit for a clean installation without compromising OEM functionality. It is recommended for tuned vehicles, hard street use, repeated high-speed pulls, and track driving—and is required for CarBahn Stage 2 tuning and above.
